The most
serious golf swing fault is that of improper use of the right hand (of a
right handed golfer) in the golf swing. Specifically, the attempt by the
golfer to release or to hit the golf ball from the top of the back swing
by throwing the club at the ball with the right hand. The Swing Thing
will prevent this swing fault by neutralizing the capability of this
interference through basic grip reduction.
How far would you hit a golf ball if it
flew straight? We believe that it is the unwanted curvature of the golf
ball in flight that makes golfers feel that the game is too difficult
for them to master. We also believe that anyone who can hit a golf ball
approximately 200 yards is an individual with excellent eye hand
coordination who possesses a golf swing which is much better than he
thinks it is. Anyone can swing a golf club but few can manage to hit a
golf ball and fewer still can hit it long and straight. We at Swing
Thing Golf are dedicated to teaching the easiest and fastest way to
learn the correct golf swing.
We leave the teaching to the greatest
players/teachers of the twentieth century. Specifically to Byron Nelson
for pioneering and teaching the “feel” of the modern golf swing and Ben
Hogan for his scientific analysis of the fundamental “mechanics” of the
golf swing.
As we are a school, we require our
students to read the books by these masters. As a bookseller, we offer
these books to our students at suggested retail. It is of the utmost
importance that students learn to swing properly from the outset and
understand the natural fundamentals from the very beginning, and then
the Swing Thing training aid will be able to refine their swing. This
training aid will teach you the “feel” of proper release and will
establish your neutral left-hand grip. It will allow you to develop
proper muscular control of your swing without years of practicing. It
will in fact “shorten the curve” in learning the game. It is unfortunate
that we cannot sell you a Swing Thing without instruction but we do not
accept failure to teach or learn with this device. Furthermore, you must
be a dedicated student of the game or nothing we can do or say will help
you.
You may ask, “Why do you teach the
so-called ‘early modern method’?”. This is an easy question to answer.
Golf used to be taught in such a way as to enable beginners to learn
quickly and easily. The teachers were all accomplished professional
players who knew that the game was not difficult once you understood the
basic fundamentals. Golf was taught by “feel” and who was better to
explain the “feel” than the best players and besides, who would believe
anyone else. Since that time, golf has been taught by those who were
lesser players that have to rely upon bio-mechanical positioning to
facilitate their lack of “feel” for the game and this has led to
contortional attempts to do something that seems entirely unnatural.
This is folly and leads to swing failure. The fluidity of a golf swing
should not be broken down into too many positions that require one to
think too much about what they are trying to do or perform. Performance
in golf, although a fairly unnatural action is most easily facilitated
by a purely powerful reflex action that requires little thought although
some effort must be made to be precise and deliberate.
